PARA SPEED PROJECT

Important information about PARA-supported speed camps will be posted on this page each

season as it becomes available. PARA supports speed training for its members by providing

funding through a competitive grant program, which encourages member clubs to organize

speed skills training and race events focused on U14 and U16 athletes.

1-Week Advance Registration for Top PARA U14s and U16s:

The top five U14 and U16 athletes in each birth year and gender are eligible for a 1-week advance registration period for speed camps supported with PARA funding.

The list of athletes that qualify for priority registration this coming season can be found here [link to PDF]. All other eligible PARA athletes may register for the camp via the open registration period.

The camp dates and location will be posted on this page no later than four weeks before the

event. The dates and times that both priority and general registration will open will be posted

here at least one week before priority registration opens.

PARA members should contact their coach before registering their athlete for a PARA

supported speed camp if they have any questions regarding whether or not their athlete should

participate given the athlete’s current skiing skills, equipment, etc.

Any Discretionary Requests for an athlete to be included in the Priority Registration List

must be submitted to the respective Age Chair by no later than December 1.

Discretionary requests are for athletes who either:

1) raced outside of PARA the prior season and achieved an equivalent ranking in that Division,

2) those with truly extenuating circumstances as defined in the PARA Rules and Procedures.

(Requests for “the next ranked athlete on the list” are not eligible for a Discretionary spot on the priority registration list.)

The U16 and U14 Age Chair may grant up to four Discretionary spots total (e.g., two per Age Class). Age Chairs are to make decisions on any Discretionary requests by December 14th.

Contact information for the U14s and U16 Age Chairs can be found here PARA Committee Chairs
