I hope you’ve had a fantastic summer and are gearing up for a fun winter season! As we plan and schedule competitions for this coming season, I am writing to share a change to U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s event-planning process.

Effective this season, all events under U.S. Ski & Snowboard will be required to use SkiReg for registration, replacing any other platform currently in use. We know a change like this can be disruptive, especially for clubs and regions that have built processes around a different system, and we do not take that lightly. We are asking for this shift because the partnership with SkiReg and its parent company Outside brings meaningful funding and other support into U.S. Ski & Snowboard – funding that goes directly toward supporting clubs and regions like yours, along with the elite teams your athletes are working to be part of. We also believe that it will provide a better service and platform in the short to medium term for all.

SkiReg has served as our preferred registration partner since 2023, and over that time, the team has built its platform specifically around how our events operate. We have received positive feedback from those who have already transitioned. This season, that work expands to every club and every event, with new functionality, stronger registration management and better marketing tools available to all of us.

SkiReg built several features to meet our requirements directly. The participant information form has been reduced for faster athlete registration. Head tax accounting and reporting are automated. Registration pages are pre-populated using your U.S. Ski & Snowboard event details, and membership verification for athletes and coaches happens in real time. Coach certification validation and SafeSport requirement compliance are built into the system as well, which removes a layer of manual tracking many of you have carried for years.

Beyond those core requirements, SkiReg offers the strongest series registration tools in the industry, along with email communication you can customize under your own name and address. You can schedule emails, reach past participants and reuse templates, and you can update payment methods yourself in real time, without waiting on approval. The platform is fully compliant with Marketplace Facilitator Tax requirements, and families can save their information once and reuse it across future events. 

Everything in SkiReg works from a phone or tablet, so you can register participants, manage an event or process a refund from wherever you are. Fee schedules, block pricing and age-based discounts apply automatically, and you can post notification pop-ups for anything participants need to see before they register. Additional team members can have their own login, pages can be password-protected for invited participants only, and FIS pending and ranking lists import directly, so qualified athletes are easy to manage. Waitlists move and charge automatically, and you can process them in bulk. When you need help, phone support connects you with a real person.

There is no setup fee to bring your club onto SkiReg. If you are moving from another platform, the SkiReg team understands its requirements and will assist with data migration to make the switch as smooth as possible. All entrants will receive a discounted rate as part of this partnership. Please see rates below

• Year 1: 6.5% plus $0.75

• Year 2: 6.5% plus $1.00

• Year 3: 6.5% plus $1.25

Because this is now a requirement across the organization for the reasons and benefits noted above, we want every club and division to understand what happens if events do not transition. After a first missed event, the club will receive a notice of noncompliance. If the club misses another event, it will receive a second and final warning. Each missed event after that notice will carry a $200 penalty. We will review fines after the season concludes, send an invoice for anything outstanding, and place the club account on hold until payment is received. Clubs will not be able to sanction competitions for the following season until any outstanding balance is paid in full. 

We recognize this adds a new expectation for clubs still on other platforms, and we want to make the transition as easy as possible, which is why the SkiReg team is ready to help with migration at no cost. SkiReg will also host a webinar in the coming weeks to help you learn more about the platform, and we will send an invite.
